2024 서울디자인페스티벌 주제관 <게임 체인저 : 덕후가 세상을 바꾼다.>

2024 서울 디자인 페스티벌의 주제관은 몰입에 주목합니다. 월간 <디자인>과 텔레포트는 세상을 바꾸는 게임 체인저가 되기 위한 방법으로 몰입을 제시하고, 그 은유로서의 ‘덕후’를 탐구합니다. 또한 다양한 분야에서 열정적으로 몰입하고 새로운 가능성을 탐구해 온 디자인 주체 20팀의 '몰입을 주제로 한 결과물'을 선보입니다. 2024 서울 디자인 페스티벌 주제관을 통해 인류 역사상 가장 급격한 변화를 겪고 있는 우리에게 몰입의 의미를 다시금 확인하는 계기를 마련하고자 합니다.

참여한 20팀의 디자인 주체들은 ‘오타쿠’의 상징적 기호인 ‘다키마쿠라’ 위에 자신만의 방식으로 몰입을 표현합니다. 어나더선데이는 외부 반응에 즉각적으로 반응하는 외연의 모습과 몰입의 순간에 사라지는 내면의 모습을 교차적으로 표현하고자 했습니다. 이는 관객의 말을 따라 하거나 격렬하게 날갯짓하는 앵무새의 모습과, 몰입하는 순간 더 이상 움직임도 소리도 감지되지 않는 상태를 대비시키는 방식으로 구현되었습니다. 이러한 작업을 통해 어나더선데이는 내면과 외연, 그리고 몰입의 순간을 시각적으로 표현하고자 했습니다.

2024 Seoul Design Festival Theme Exhibition

The theme exhibition of the 2024 Seoul Design Festival focuses on 'immersion.' Monthly and Teleport present immersion as a way to become a game changer and explore ‘otaku’ as a metaphor for this concept. Additionally, 20 design teams that have passionately immersed themselves in various fields and explored new possibilities will showcase their works based on the theme of immersion. Through this exhibition, we aim to reconsider the meaning of immersion in an era of unprecedented change in human history.

The 20 participating design teams express their unique interpretations of immersion on the ‘dakimakura,’ a symbolic item associated with otaku culture. Another Sunday aims to depict the contrast between the external appearance that reacts immediately to external stimuli and the inner state that becomes detached at the moment of deep immersion. This concept is represented through the juxtaposition of parrots that mimic the words of spectators and flap their wings intensely with the moment of immersion, where their movement and sounds fade away completely. Through this work, Another Sunday visually explores the duality of external reactions and inner immersion, as well as the transformative moment of deep focus.
